Amelia Saunders is an artist from England working in charcoal and oil paint.

"For my drawings, charcoal has become my medium of choice because of its versatility and expressive potential. I find it to be a 'middle-ground' between drawing with graphite and oil painting, because I can achieve the accuracy of a pencil, while also being able to build up layers and manipulate the charcoal with a paintbrush. This allows me to capture the subtleties of shadow, contour, and depth.

While I have an appreciation for realism, my approach is not one of strict photo-realism. Instead, I aim to achieve a sense of presence. I try to capture not just the appearance of the subject, but also the mood, character, and underlying emotion".
